This course is a comprehensive study of language in form and use. Some aspects are similar to those of GCSE English, including original writing and textual analysis.
Students wishing to pursue an A Level programme must, in all but exceptional circumstances, have achieved 6 standard GCSE passes (grade 4-9), with a strong pass (grade 5 or higher) in at least 4. Students should also attain the subject-specific minimum grades in subjects relevant to those to be studied Grade 5 in both English Language and English Literature.
80% examination/20% coursework
