Course summary

D6 T-Level in Early Years Education is taught by experienced teachers who bring invaluable industry expertise to the classroom. Students will delve into a comprehensive curriculum covering various aspects of early childhood education, including: • Understanding the Education and Early Years sector from ages 0 to 19 • Child development • Supporting children and young people’s education • Safeguarding, health and safety, and wellbeing • Understanding and managing behaviour • Observing and assessing children and young people • Equality and diversity • Special educational needs and disability • English as an additional language • Working with parents, carers, and wider families • Working with agencies and services supporting children, families, and carers • Reflective practice and professional development The program specialises in early years education, focusing on nurturing educators to be equipped to handle the unique needs of young learners. Industry Placements: Industry placements are facilitated by a network of Primary Schools across Blackburn with Darwen. Students will engage in 21 weeks (750 hours) of hands-on experience, gaining invaluable insight and practical skills in real-world settings. Employability Skills: Throughout the program, students will develop a range of employability skills, including communication, teamwork, problemsolving, and professionalism, enhancing their readiness for the workforce.

Entry requirements

Entry criteria for the course require 5 x Grade 4 at GCSE, including English & Maths. For students who do not meet the entry criteria, there is an option to study a foundation year in preparation for T-Level as a 3-year 6th form. These components cover the Occupational Specialist knowledge and skills required to demonstrate threshold competence for the specialism. The Occupational Specialism is assessed by a skills-related project that assesses the Performance Outcome skills and associated underpinning knowledge.
