The Health and Social Care course at Aylward Academy will give students the knowledge and skills to pursue many Health and Social Care based careers across many fields such as nursing, social work, midwifery, psychological or medical based careers. During the course you will gain an understanding of the work that goes into treating patients and the physical, intellectual, emotional and social changes that occur as humans develop over time. Studying Health and Social Care at Aylward Academy will allow you to develop your numeracy, literacy, vocational and academic skills. Health and Social Care involves a combination of coursework and examinations that will prepare you for further education as well as extensive case study and scenario based work that will benefit you in your career. If you are passionate about helping others and exploring more about the health and wellbeing of the individuals in our society—then this is the course for you WHAT’S COVERED? As part of the course you will create personal treatment plans for vulnerable service users and experience what it is like to work as a healthcare practitioner. The course touches on key aspects of human development across the life stages, diagnosing and treating common illnesses, understanding the roles in the health and social care sector and exploring the best way to identify and support the most vulnerable people in our society. FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES Students who have passed Health & Social Care have gone on to study a wide array of courses at university including Nursing, Midwifery, Sociology, Psychology, Education Studies as well as a range of other Social Work or Medical related courses. During the course you will develop skills that would benefit you in a career in Healthcare (such as nursing or midwifery), working with children (such as teaching or social work) or other jobs helping others who need support (such as being a nutritionist or personal trainer)
