Students will be introduced to a variety of experiences that explore a range of craft and design processes and techniques. These can include: • Graphic Communication • Textile Design • 3 Dimensional Design Students must explore and create work associated with areas of study from at least two titles listed above. Students will explore the use of drawing for different purposes using a variety of methods and media on a variety of scales. Students can work in sketchbooks, workbooks and journals to underpin their work where appropriate. Students must explore, through a range of two-dimensional and/or three-dimensional processes and media, practical application of skills and relevant critical and contextual sources such as the work of contemporary artists, craftspeople and designers and the different purposes, intentions and functions of craft and design as appropriate to their own work.
You should have achieved a minimum of 5 9-4 grades at GCSE including English and Maths and Grade 5 or above in GCSE Art, Textiles, Craft Design or a Merit in Level 2 Construction
A question paper will be provided with the choice of eight questions to be used as starting points. Students are expected to select one. Students will be provided with examination papers on 1st February. Students will need to present preparatory work in a suitable format eg mounted sheets, design sheets, sketchbooks, workbooks, journals, models and maquettes. Supervised time- 15hours Following the preparatory period, students must complete 15 hours of unaided, supervised time and must produce a finished outcome or a series of related finished outcomes informed by their preparatory work. Students will be assessed against all four assessment objects and on their ability to work independently, working within the specified time constraints and developing a personal and meaningful response.
