BTEC Science Level 3 offered by Edexcel is a two-year qualification equivalent to one A Level, emphasising a learner-centred approach with a flexible, unit-based structure. The course focuses on the practical, interpersonal, and thinking skills required for success in both employment and higher education. Students complete various units, assessments, and maintain a portfolio of assignments.
You will have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths, and have achieved at least a grade 44 in Combined Science or at least 2 grade 4s in Triple Science at GCSE.
The assessment includes externally assessed exams for units 1 and 3 and internally assessed coursework tasks for units 2 and 8. The portfolio, a compilation of individual student work, is evaluated. External exams are based on the principles and applications of science and science investigation skills.
