Criminology is the study of crime and you will explore different types of crimes, the reasons for those crimes and why people often commit crime. You will explore how campaigns can be used to influence government and change laws as well as have an opportunity to create your own campaign and materials. You will explore psychological and sociological reasons for crimes and explore how crimes are investigated using methods such as forensics. You will explore a plethora of different case studies of serial killers and understand the legal system, how it works and how changes occur.
You will have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths.
Assessment is through a combination of internal controlled assessments, one in year 1 and one in year 2 and examination at the end of year one and year two. You will also be assessed by your teachers to help you develop your skills and given feedback to better prepare you for exams.
