
Over the year you will study eight core units and three specialised units to include aspects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. These include: Principles of Science Chemistry and our Earth Energy and our Universe Biology and our Environment Applications of Chemical Substance Applications of Physical Science Health Applications of Life Science Scientific Skills The Living Body Monitoring the Environment Exploring Our Universe We will also build upon your skills in literacy, numeracy and ICT.
5 x grade 2 or above including English Language and Maths. Grade 2/2 in Combined Science or at least 2 x grade 2 from Triple Science.
Of the eleven units, two will be assessed by an external exam. The remaining units will be assessed by written coursework, some of which include practical work. Each piece of assessed work will be awarded a pass, merit or distinction grade and these grades are cumulative, resulting in a final grade at the end of the course. It is therefore essential students apply themselves to all tasks as they are continually being assessed.
