The course aims to develop the students’ interest in, and enthusiasm for, Chemistry. We enable students to build on their knowledge from GCSE and to develop an understanding of the different areas of Chemistry and how they relate to each other. Chemistry is a practical subject and many of the key ideas are reinforced through experiments. There is no practical examination, instead practical skills are assessed during short controlled activities throughout the course. There are some mathematical requirements associated with the course. Future Proof Chemistry is an essential subject for further study of chemical sciences as well as for pharmacy, veterinary science, medicine and dentistry. It is highly desirable for a wide range of courses including biological or physical sciences, environmental science, geology and psychology. There are many exciting opportunities to study Chemistry as part of a joint or combined honours degree, or as part of a sandwich course with a year in industry or in another country. A Level Chemistry is a well-recognised qualification in the world of work.
