Course summary

The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science prepares students for many roles in the science sector, for example as a technician in the areas of a laboratory or industrial science. This qualification can also be used to progress onto Higher Education Institutions to study science related degree courses such as Forensic Science, Biomedical Science, Optometry, Radiography or Nursing to name but a few.The assessment is based on coursework either through assignments, practical reports in the laboratory or educational visits. Delivery of the course will be through the use of a mixture of theory and practical work.

Entry requirements

Btec First in Applied Science Extended Certificate (double Award) or Diploma (quadrupal award) Merit or Distinction C at GCSE Science Core OR Additional andC or above in GCSE in Maths AND English Language (though a C in Maths and a D in English Language will be accepted if English Language is to be retaken during the AS year)
