Course summary

Economics at A Level is a rigorous, highly respected subject. It is not essential to have studied Economics at GCSE. An interest in the UK and global economy is vital. With economic issues top of the agenda in the UK, EU and the wider world, it is an exciting time to be studying this subject. We cover both microeconomics (individual markets such as oil) and macro-economics (the national economy). You will learn to analyse and evaluate topics such as market forces, competition, the power of large companies, labour markets, externalities, behavioural economics, economic growth, unemployment, inflation, financial markets, Europe and globalisation.

Entry requirements

Standard Sixth Form entry plus Grade 6 in GCSE Economics. If you have not studied GCSE Economics, entry will require a minimum of Grade 6 in GCSE Maths.
