
Students will have the opportunity to extensively study each of the following through the two year course: • Drawing • Printmaking • Photography & Digital Manipulation • Painting • Ceramics & Sculpture • Mixed Media • Textiles Students are encouraged to explore, experiment and develop a range of artistic techniques and mediums through research and investigations into artists and observations. Life drawing sessions are offered to expand these directives along with regular visits and workshops to support and extend our students’ development and under-standing
Grade 5 or above at GCSE in Art & Design. Grade 4 or above in English Language.
Coursework—60% Practical Portfolio Candidates produce a portfolio of work from a starting point, topic or theme of their own choice. The focus is on including work that shows exploration, research and acquisition of techniques and skills. This portfolio includes a written Related Study that extend the student’s practical portfolio of work and shows a historical and contextual understanding. Controlled Assignment—40% Candidates select one starting point from the examination paper issued in February. Prior to the 15 hour practical examination, students are given the opportunity to plan and develop a sketchbook of preparatory studies to support the development of their final piece.
