As well as developing their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, students will have the opportunity to study aspects of the culture and life of the country through topics such as: the changing nature of the family, the cyber family, the role of voluntary work in society. Students also study Cinema, music and Art. Students also have to read a novel. New skills will be introduced such as translating from and into the foreign language and using the foreign language to argue a case and present viewpoints in both speaking and writing. In addition, students will study a written text such as a novel in the target language and students will study a film.
A Grade 5 or above at GCSE in Spanish, although consideration will be given to committed students who achieved a grade 4.
There are 2 core themes in the A level specification: Social Issues and trends Political and artistic culture. In addition you will have to study either two texts or a text and a film. Texts or text and film will be assessed in paper 2. Paper 1: Listening, reading and writing Paper 2: Writing Paper 3: Speaking
