The aim of the courses are to develop creativity and flair, building on the techniques and skills acquired at GCSE. Independent and personal research is positively encouraged and enables students to develop their own exciting ideas around different tasks that are informed by the work of others. We teach as a team and offer a range of specialisms and opinions, which inspire different ways of working in preparation for higher education.
Enjoyment, enthusiasm and an appreciation for the world around you. Technical ability and a willingness to make a commitment to work regularly outside of lesson times both in school and at home taking ownership of projects. The course is open to students who have no prior experience at GCSE level. But, you will need to put together a recent portfolio of key pieces, providing evidence of ability and interest and complete a task set pre-application if you are interested.
All components are assessed using four assessment objectives and marked out of 96. AO1 - Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations. AO2 - Explore and select appropriate resources. AO3 - Record ideas, observations and insights. AO4 - Present a personal and meaningful response.
