Laboratory and field based experiments will introduce students to an understanding of sporting performance through theoretical application. Students will be involved in class discussions, individual research, group work and teaching. The course will involve an in-depth study of the theoretical aspects of sport and a practical based assessment. The course will equip you with both a depth and breadth of knowledge, understanding and skills relating to scientific, socio-cultural and practical aspects of physical education.
Grade 6 in GCSE PE. Students must be regularly participating in at least one sporting activity. You will need to be competing or coaching in one of the OCR specified sports on a regular basis,
You will sit three exams: Physiological factors affecting performance (30% of total A-Level) Psychological factors affecting performance (20% of total A-Level) Socio-cultural issues in physical activity and sport (20% of total A-Level) You will also be assessed practically (in one sport) as a performer or coach in physical education and undertake an evaluation and analysis of performance task (30% of total A-Level).
