Esports is a fast-growing global industry which is projected to be worth $1.79 billion in 2022. The growth of the esports industry has led to a demand in specialised skills, these skills are akin to those found in data analysis, computer science, and business; this course fine tunes the desired transferable skills to be relevant to esports specifically and thus aids in employment within the esports industry. Esports allows students to cover topics within sport, marketing, enterprise, IT, and the creatives; this breadth of subject areas allows students to identify their niche within the subject, as well as allowing students to innovate esports through their prior knowledge of these areas. The esports qualification is not solely based on knowledge, as it also encompasses social, physical, mental, and financial skills. Students undertaking this course will also learn valuable skills for fluid workplaces, meaning that students learn strategy, skill, and teamwork relevant to all environments. The qualification is endorsed by the British Esports Association as being suitable for learners who want to work in the industry and is suitable for progression to university
There are no additional entry requirements for this subject; however, GCSE subjects that include essay writing and data analysis, such as science and history, are advantageous
This course solely comprises of internal coursework-based assessments in the form of written reports, projects, time-constrained practical assessments with observation records and supporting evidence, recordings of performance, sketchbooks, working logbooks, reflective journals, or presentations with assessor questioning.
