Students studying these qualifications will cover a broad range of subjects across the sector of Public Services industries such as Emergency Services, Armed Services, Local Authority, Custodial Services, the Criminal Justice sector as well as Voluntary and Charitable Organisations. Learners will benefit from a large selection of Industry based employees coming to visit the college to speak to students and engage them in related activities. Students will take part in a five day residential placement at an army base to help develop independent living skills, fitness and confidence levels and teamwork. Learners will participate in a variety of both land and water based activities and could include walking in Wales, Yorkshire and Cheshire, Mountain Biking, BMX biking, as well as local bouldering, climbing, kayaking and raft building. In the final term learners will take part in three day expedition up in the Lake District being assessed on map reading and compass work, camp craft, teamwork and leadership as well as improving their fitness levels. Students will experience a wide variety of volunteering opportunities and benefit from our invaluable links with local and national public services. Visits from guest speakers will enhance their learning and future career opportunities.
