Course summary

This course is an A Level Course. In this exciting course, you can expect to gain an in-depth knowledge of this fascinating subject. You will study a variety of topics within three of the main branches of Chemistry: Physical, Inorganic and Organic. Practical work is at the heart of Chemistry, so you can expect it to play an important role in supporting your understanding and developing a number of skills. Skills developed are highly valued by universities and employers and include team work, analytical skills, problem solving, communication and numeracy skills. Entry requirements

MINIMUM SUBJECT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS (in addition to the general 6TH form minimum entry requirements of 5 x grade 4 at GCSE/equivalent or above including maths and English: GCSE Combined Science 6, 6 or Chemistry 6, 2nd Science 6 plus Maths grade 5 (ideally 6).

How you'll be assessed

Exam Board Information: A Level AQA Chemistry • Paper 1: Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Practical Skills (35%): written exam, 2 hours, 105 marks of short and long answer questions. • Paper 2: Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Practical Skills (35%): written exam, 2 hours, 105 marks of short and long answer questions. • Paper 3: Any Content and Practical Skills (30%): written exam, 2 hours, 90 marks of short and long answer questions and multiple-choice. N.B. A separate endorsement of practical skills will be taken alongside the A Level.
