Course summary

This course is an A Level Course. In this course you can expect to build on your knowledge and skills from GCSE and meet new concepts, including calculus and its applications. The course will emphasise how mathematical ideas are interconnected and how mathematics can be applied to model situations using algebra and other representations, to help make sense of data, to understand the physical world and solve problems in a variety of contexts, including social sciences and business. All students will have to study aspects of Pure Maths, Mechanics and Statistics. Entry requirements

MINIMUM SUBJECT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS (in addition to the general 6TH form minimum entry requirements of 5 x grade 4 at GCSE/equivalent or above including maths and English): GCSE Grade 6 in Maths.

How you'll be assessed

Exam Board Information: Edexcel (A) Mathematics As well as specific mathematical content the specifications will assess the use of mathematical argument, language and proof, mathematical problem solving and mathematical modelling. The course will be assessed by externally set, written exams.
