
This course is an A Level Course. Art and Design are powerful vehicles for communication; a way to express visions that are beyond the capacity of words, and a medium for cultural enlightenment. Art and design shapes the way people talk about cultural issues, and how they form ideas, thoughts and visions of the future. The impact on society can be profound. Art and Design is a highly practical subject which explores and critiques contextual work. Developing and understanding a wide range of processes and mediums to develop and express their creativity through a range of artistic areas and media. Why study Art & Design? You will be introduced to a variety of experiences employing a range of media, processes and techniques appropriate to your chosen area of study. You will build your skills, knowledge and understanding following a programme of study that provides personal challenges for the individual. Studying Art & Design will enable the student to acquire a greater understanding and interest of the critical and contextual aspects of art and design. MINIMUM SUBJECT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS (in addition to the general 6TH form minimum entry requirements of 5 x grade 4 at GCSE/equivalent or above including maths and English): A portfolio of evidence and usually GCSE grade 4 in Art.
Exam Board Information: AQA Component 1: Personal Investigation (60%): Coursework Component 2: Externally Set Task (40%): 15 hours
