Course summary

Throughout A Level Film Studies you will study Film and Cinema as a medium; as an art form; and as a social and economic institution. You will engage with a wide range of different types of films developing your skills of observation, critical analysis and personal reflection through both written film analysis and film production skills. Over the 2 years you will complete a production coursework piece which may be in the form of a script, storyboard or short film. You will also study modules in British and American Film, considering both contemporary and historical elements of these as well as studying the differences between mainstream and independent film. You will also study a module in varieties of film experience considering things such as documentary film, European film and short film, both these modules will be assessed by examination.
