A Level Philosophy and Religion
Course summary

You will study the key ideas, themes, concepts and theories behind Philosophy and Religion. The Philosophy unit discusses key questions such as ‘Does God exist?’, ‘Why is there Evil and Suffering?’ and ‘Do we actually have Free Will?’. In the Ethics unit you will be discussing questions such as ‘Is abortion wrong?’, ‘Is scientific experimentation on animals unethical?’ and, ‘Is capital punishment morally justifiable?’. While in the Study of Religion unit you will be focusing on Christianity and discussing questions such as whether Christianity and science oppose each other, and examining the extent to which Christianity has a negative attitude towards gender equality.
