Course summary

Course and Assessment Structure This course is new for September 2025 full details of the syllabus will be published before the summer holidays. A brief overview of the content is outlined below: Students will gain a broad insight into the fundamental components of the financial services sector. This would include looking at different types of banks, commonly used financial products, such as shares, bonds and insurance, as well as an introductory understanding of markets and how they work. The objective of the examination is to provide candidates with an introduction to the basics of financial services. The examination will test candidates’ knowledge and understanding of the following elements: • Ethics and Integrity in Financial Services • Introduction - saving and borrowing • Banking • Equities • Bonds • Derivatives • Markets • Other Areas of Financial Services

Entry requirements

How you'll be assessed

The Certificate of Finance will be awarded at the end of Year 12 and students will be given the option to continue their financial studies into Year 13 to complete the Diploma, if they wish.
