Course summary

Allowing you to consider: Your own roles, values and attitudes in relation towards Geographical ideas. The roles, values and attitudes of others, including decision makers. Two examinations in the summer of year 13: one ‘Physical Geography’ and one ‘Human Geography’ paper. Each exam paper is 2.5 hours in length. They are each worth 40% of the A Level. The remaining 20% is gained from a Geographical Investigation which will be based on a compulsory fieldtrip undertaken in year 12. The cost of this trip will be in the region of £450 and this will need to be paid in the autumn term of the first year of study.

Entry requirements

Grade 6 or above in GCSE Geography. Grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language. Grade 5 or above in GSCE Mathematics.

How you'll be assessed

Unit 1: Physical Geography (40%) Water and Carbon Cycles, Coastal Systems and Landscapes and Hazards Unit 2: Human Geography (40%) Global Systems and Global Governance, Changing Places and Population and the Environment Unit 3: Geographical Investigation (20%) Students will carry out fieldwork and will be expected to produce a 4000 word investigation on an area of the specification which they are particularly interested in.
