
Year 12 The Year 12 course in Religious Studies is designed to enable learners to develop their interests in and enthusiasm for, a study of religion and its place in the wider world. The first year of the course and comprises 3 components: 1. Introduction to study of Religion 2. Introduction to Philosophy of Religion 3. Introduction to Religion & Ethics Year 13 The full A level encourages students to: • Develop their interest in a rigorous study of religion and belief and relate it to the wider world • Develop a knowledge of understanding appropriate to a specialist study of religion. • Develop an understanding and appreciation of religious thought and its contribution to individual communities and societies • Adopt an enquiring, critical and reflective approach to the study of religion. The A level is assessed by examination at the end of year 13. This exam will cover all of the content taught in Year 12 and Year13. Why Study? Religious Studies is a qualification valued by universities and employers because it demonstrates a candidate’s ability to research, analyse and evaluate. This course enhances general knowledge and develop the skills required for advanced study and various forms of employment such as medicine, law, and journalism.
