Assessment
Examinations to be taken at the end of Year 13, covering Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics. Pure maths covers two-thirds of the course; mechanics and stats are both one-sixth of the course. All three strands are compulsory. Mathematics A-Level is taught in a teach-led manner, working through questions as a whole class. Mathematics A-Level requires a willingness to work independently outside of the classroom. Homework is set after each lesson, providing an integral part of the course; this allows students to practise the topics taught through skills-based questions as well as applying their knowledge to exam questions. Regular assessment gives students valuable feedback on methods, presentation and progress, as well as weekly marked homework tasks.
