Course summary
An interest in tourism is vital to the completion of this course. The units cover a range of practical elements of the travel and tourism industry including many business topics which are applied to industry companies. Students are given the opportunity to investigate global destinations, create their own marketing plans and research different visitor attractions The course offers a variety of topics covering all the key aspects of the travel and tourism industry. The following are just a few examples: Explore the travel and tourism industry including how it is structured, the importance for the economy, the scale of the industry, and what internal and external factors affect the industry; How the customer needs are met; Marketing activities in different organisations including using research to create your own marketing plan; Planning itineraries for different customer types; Looking at how destinations have adapted to change. A variety of teaching methods will be used to enable you to complete the units, like visits to organisations and guest speakers from the industry, working independently or as part of a team, researching businesses through the internet or other sources, and producing and delivering presentations.
