Course summary

This course is designed for all those who have enjoyed Mathematics and succeeded at GCSE Higher Tier. Mathematics at A Level is both challenging and interesting as it builds on the topics you have met at GCSE and develops the ideas further. You will see how the algebra and geometry you have already learned can be applied to real-life situations. Having a Mathematics A-Level demonstrates to future employers that you have strong capabilities in problem-solving, logic, and analyzing situations. This course consists of three strands that are taught, side-by-side in both years; Pure Maths, Mechanics, and Statistics. There are three exams at the end of Year 13, Two covering the Pure content (66% of the qualification) and one covering both Statistics and Mechanics (33% of the qualification). This course is: • Essential for those wishing to study Mathematics at University • Highly recommended for all those studying Science, particularly Physics and Chemistry • Useful for those studying Humanities, Psychology, and other Social Sciences due to the Statistics element • Relevant to all those who will use Mathematics in future careers or courses.
