Course summary
"You learn more about somebody in an hour of play that you do in a year of conversation" PLATO Students with an interest in biomechanics and the influences that sport has on the world. WHAT STUDENTS THOUGHT ABOUT THE COURSE: "The course is completely different from GCSE PE. There is a lot more academic work to be completed; also more emphasis on doing extra reading by yourself. The subjects taught are found in most first-year degree courses so this A Level is a good step towards university. Over the two years, students will study: Unit 1 - Applied Anatomy, Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics - a study into how the body works and responds to exercise Unit 2 - Skill Acquisition and Sports Psychology- a study of how we learn and how the mind influences performance Unit 3 - Sport and Society & Contemporary Issues in Sport.- a study in the organisation of sport and modern issues within the sporting world. Unit 4 - Performance or Coaching evaluation and analysis of performance- individual performance within your chosen sport.
