Course summary

Students will cover the historic, political and cultural landscape of Spain and the Spanish-speaking world and also cover two, popular cultural topics; Del Toro's El Laberinto del Fauno and Lorca's La Casa de Bernarda Alba. These topics look at Spain both before and after the Spanish Civil War and explore themes of repression vs freedom and reality vs fantasy. Students are encouraged to explore the Spanishspeaking world outside of the classroom to supplement their learning and broaden their horizons.
