Course summary

Choose to study Physics at Brighouse Sixth Form College and study a challenging and interesting A-level course which seeks to explain everyday physical phenomena that we experience and use every day. This A-level covers a range of topics that include a balance of traditional areas of mechanics and field theory as well as the more contemporary physics of quantum theory and astrophysics. The course also requires students to have an understanding of, and ability to apply advanced-level mathematics. The mathematical content is developed to a significantly higher level than that encountered in GCSE Physics and Mathematics, therefore students will benefit greatly if they are also studying A-level Mathematics. Students will develop their knowledge and understanding of a wide range of processes, techniques and procedures. They will have to apply this knowledge in a variety of practical and theoretical contexts, and when handling quantitative and qualitative data. The ability to analyse, interpret and evaluate information, ideas and evidence is also very important. Students will be expected to make appropriate judgements, reach conclusions, and develop and refine practical designs and procedures.
