Engineering Studies
Course summary
Follow our engineering pathway and you will get an excellent grounding in mechanical, electrical, and electronic engineering to enable you to choose the career that’s right for you. If you like finding solutions to technical challenges, engineering could be your future. Skilled engineers are in demand; so much so that there is a major drive, nationally and locally, to encourage young people into the profession. As part of your studies, you will have the opportunity to take part in employer-led, work-based projects, based on real-life scenarios, providing invaluable experience to supplement your studies. Our Level 3 students have recently benefitted from curriculum sponsorship from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), including a work-based project, guest lecturing, and regional competitions. This program will enable you to develop your knowledge of engineering materials, design, and processes, graphical communication including CAD, and electrical and electronic principles. This is an advanced-level course that gives you broad knowledge so you can then specialize and progress to a technical area of your choice. You will explore the scientific principles of engineering and develop the analytical and problem-solving skills that are needed within an engineering environment. You will study 18 modules over the two years, and in addition, you will study functional skills in English, maths, or ICT. Students will study the different sectors of engineering and their underlying processes systems and structures, and develop a range of skills and techniques including personal skills and attributes to help them progress successfully.
