The Sixth Form course will build on the skills acquired at GCSE, and will explore rich variety of novels, poetry and drama that make up the English Literary canon - The Sixth Form course will build on the knowledge and skills acquired at GCSE, and will explore the rich variety of novels, poetry and drama that make up the English literary canon. English Literature lessons are taught using a wide range of active learning approaches including personal research, group activities and debate as well as formal classroom based activities. English students develop their analytical and critical skills through the study of a range of texts and language. Students will gain valuable independent study skills which are useful in a range of further education, higher education and employment settings. An English A level is recognised as a facilitating A Level by most Universities including the Russell Group.
