Course summary

The study of religion is increasingly important in a world where religious belief is a driving force behind social and political events. The Religious Studies A Level course meets with up-to-date ideas in the popular areas of Philosophy of Religion, Religious Ethics and Developments in Christian thought. Students develop their understanding and appreciation of religious beliefs and teachings, as well as the disciplines of ethics and the philosophy of religion. Religious Studies lessons use a wide range of active learning approaches including discussion and group activities as well as formal classroom based activities and independent learning. Tasks will develop the skills of debate, investigation, analysis, interpretation, communication and evaluation. Students acquire skills that will prepare them for higher education and the world of work. They have the opportunity to develop transferable skills that will be of benefit across all areas of study.
