Geography
Course summary
Geography is highly valued by universities as an A Level choice. It is recognized as one of eight facilitating subjects. This means that universities can favour students who have completed geography at A Level, due to the blend of skills that have been developed in the Sixth Form years. In 2015 the Guardian newspaper identified geography as the ‘must-have’ A Level. Whilst we do work hard in lessons, geography is also fun! At Shireland, we spend time on day and residential trips studying geography in real-life situations to offer you the opportunity to see for yourself how important it is as a subject in shaping our lives. Attending the fieldwork is a compulsory element of the course. To show our commitment to this, we heavily subsidise the trips, with families asked to make a small contribution.
