Course summary
Drama and Theatre is an exciting and rewarding course that covers all aspects of the professional industry. Studying a wide range of plays, playwrights and practitioners, the course encourages you to view the theatre from the perspective of an actor, designer, director and audience member. The course involves many exciting components such as devising, group text performance, monologue/duologue performance, watching live theatre and analysis of performance texts from the viewpoint of an actor and a director. You will study a broad range of texts from traditional Greek plays to contemporary playwrights including Peter Shaffer. In addition to this, you will receive support that concentrates on acting technique, preparing you for drama school auditions. We also stage an annual college musical, with past productions including: Les Misérables; Fiddler on the Roof; Sweet Charity; The Wizard of Oz; The Sound of Music; Chicago; Phantom of the Opera; Miss Saigon; Sweeney Todd and West Side Story.
