Business Studies
Course summary
Students will study the Level 3 OCR Cambridge Technical in Business at an Extended Certificate level. This course contains a wide variety of business themes, starting with an introduction to the Business Environment and Customers and Communication in the first year, and further topics such as Marketing and Business Decisions in the second year. The course involves both practical work assessed through coursework and witness statements, as well as externally assessed exams. There are opportunities throughout the year for Business students that allow them to apply their understanding to scenarios and mock interviews. Assessment center days and apprenticeship interviews are offered through the PSHE curriculum and there are opportunities to liaise with local businesses. Wherever you work in the future, you will be part of a business. Studying Business Studies can help with university applications and provides UCAS points towards an application. It also serves as a great foundation for applications to apprenticeships in a wide range of business functions, from finance to marketing and IT. Students who combine Business with Media find that the skills obtained in both subjects assist in the progression on the course—Business incorporates many skills to facilitate applications for marketing, advertising, hospitality, travel, finance, and Media sectors.
