Course summary

English Literature A Level will require you to develop judgement and independence when approaching texts. You will be expected to reflect upon your knowledge and understanding of a range of literary texts, from different genres and your ways of reading them. Your understanding of the ways in which writers shape meanings in texts and how texts are interpreted by different readers, over time, will be crucial to your succeeding in this subject. The ways in which different texts relate to one another and to literary traditions, movements and genres will be explored during the course. This will refine your understanding of the significance of cultural and contextual influences upon literature and how they contribute to our understanding of texts.
