Course summary

Further Mathematics is particularly appropriate for those considering higher education in the field of Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering. It is an excellent foundation for Year 1 at the University. For any able mathematician, this subject is fascinating and challenging. This is a highly demanding subject and requires a high level of understanding and ability in Mathematics. Principally, it places greater demand on mathematical processes such as the formulation of generalizations or proofs or the use of abstract concepts. As with Mathematics, there will be work examples and theory in lessons, followed by weekly assessments and practice exam questions to complete. The department runs a drop-in class after school once a week for students to get help with their work.
