Course summary

PE enables you to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the modern-day sporting arena. Unit 1 Applied Anatomy and Physiology, Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics Unit 2 Skill Acquisition and Sports Psychology Unit 3 Sport and Society and Contemporary Issues in Physical Activity and Sports Unit 4 Performance and Coaching, Evaluation and Analysis, and Performance for Improvement (EAPI). You will study four units over two years, one of which will be based on practical performance in one activity, and in addition, students will be assessed in the Evaluation and Analysis of Performance Improvement (EAPI). Assessment will be carried out through end-of-unit tests and a mock exam in both Years 12 and 13. Individual and group work in the classroom. Independent study about the practical performance element of the course. The multi-disciplined nature of PE results in students receiving a wide range of offers and opportunities both in higher education and the workplace after qualification. Students have gone on to degree courses including Politics, Sports Science, Sociology, Biology, English, Chemistry, and History and over the years, several have gone on to become professional sportspeople.
