Beauty Therapy
Assessment
You'll learn through discussions, expert demonstrations by experienced beauty practitioners and practical activities in our industry-standard facilities. We are open to the public and are run like a professional salon, so you'll have the opportunity to practice your professional beauty treatments on customers, whilst gaining work experience in the industry. Your course will also involve a one-week work placement and will be involved in organising and taking part in several enrichment activities that are linked to producing a portfolio of your work. This course requires a large amount of self-directed study and you will need to ensure that you are working for a minimum of 3 hours per week self-study. You will have access to City and Guilds Smartscreen which has resources and handouts to able you to revise and look over your routines. You will be assessed each time you enter the salon on your professional standards to ensure you are meeting the standards of the industry. The course is divided into three main forms of assessments: - A two and a half-hour theory paper - A six-seven hour practical day - A three-hour written task All of these elements are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction and an overall outcome for each unit will give you a final grade at the end of the year based on exam results and quality of work and national average. A minimum of 95% attendance is required on the programme to ensure you are not missing essential information.
