Course summary

The aim of the A Level Language course is to give students the opportunity to develop an interest in language learning and to develop understanding of the language in a variety of contexts and genres. They will be able to communicate confidently, clearly and effectively in the language for a range of purposes and develop awareness and understanding of contemporary society, cultural background and heritage. Key themes of the AQA course include social issues and trends, political and artistic culture, literary texts and films. French Film Study: La Haine French Literary Study: L’Etranger Assessment: In Paper 1, students are assessed in Listening, Reading and Translation and Paper 2 is a written analysis of the film / literary texts studied. Part 1 of Paper 3 is a speaking conversation based on a stimulus card while Part 2 is an exploration of the students’ Independent Research Project.
