Chemistry
Course summary
Chemistry has been responsible for greatly improving the quality of life in the last 100 years. Chemistry concerns itself with the study of atoms, the very foundation of all things, and how they interact with each other. It then tries to manage and predict reactions to most benefit the interests of society, taking into account the environmental impact. Our laboratory facilities provide us with the perfect environment to combine the theory and practical elements of the course. Over the years we have found the best ways to support and develop the independent learning skills necessary for success in 6th form and at university. Beyond the curriculum the department is partnered with the University of Brighton and supports three students a year completing Nuffield research placements in the summer holidays.
