Course summary
Discover the way you see the world through a lens. In this A-Level course, we will teach you the creative, analytical, and theoretical skills needed to become an accomplished photographer. You will challenge your skills through people, places, still life, documentary, experimental, fashion, moving images, and installation. Throughout your studies, you will have access to our brand new Art and Design building complete with a photography studio and dark room. You will have the chance to develop specialist skills that will help you stand out to employers and universities. The Photography work rooms are a purpose-built and dedicated workspace, fully equipped with computers and the latest design and editing software to allow you to develop your skills and experiment artistically. As well as looking at the photographers and artists who have inspired others, you will learn composition, how to use equipment, and how to combine photography with other media. This course explores the foundations to help you hone your skills and challenge your artistic eye. It will provide you with the space to experiment in order to find your unique style. Topic areas include composition rules of photography, studio and darkroom skills, how to use a DSLR camera, professional studio, digital photography, and other lens-based media. After exploring techniques and a range of themes, you will begin exploring your own creativity using our studio or location photography to produce individual photographic pieces. We have a variety of photographic equipment to use in and out of lessons to support learning.
