Chemistry
Course summary
The course follows the Edexcel Chemistry Specification. As with all new specifications, the number of unit tests has been reduced, as have the options for re-sitting. The main components of the course are Physical, Inorganic, and Organic Chemistry, supplemented by a series of chosen and core practicals. Practical skills are essential to this course, and are assessed internally throughout both years. The A Level now consists of a Core Practical course (CPAC), a separate qualification from the A Level itself, which does not count towards the final A Level grade, but the content of those practicals is assessed in the written examination papers. To our knowledge, all university courses accepting Chemistry A Level expect the practical course to have been completed and passed.
