Course summary

We offer an accelerated course for students to study AS Mathematics in one year, finishing in time to take the examination at the start of the Summer Term of L6. The AS course in Mathematics will extend students’ skills beyond GCSE Maths and introduce new ideas which will increase their resilience with problem solving and will also support the curriculum in other subjects, particularly in Science. There would also be the option to join an A Level class at the end of L6 if they choose to carry on with four subjects. There is evidence of a growing trend amongst universities to encourage students to continue with some studies in Mathematics alongside their three other A Level subjects and therefore some courses are making reduced UCAS offers for students who hold at least a grade B in AS Mathematics.
