Paper One – Visual Analysis and Themes Pupils are equipped with the skills to visually analyse a selection of unseen artworks and architecture. Pupils take on the challenge of visually unpicking these, using their understanding of formal, stylistic and technical characteristics. Pupils acquire a chronological overview of our Western art historical canon and a familiarity with the key artistic epochs. Paper Two – Periods In Paper Two, pupils delve into two periods of art history in greater depth. There is an emphasis on the relationship between art, societal issues, cultural developments and historical events during that era. The courses currently offered are Pop Life: British and American Contemporary Art and Architecture (1960‒2015) and Rebellion and Revival: the British and French Avant-Garde (1848‒99).
