Course summary
The course involves studying in length and breadth as well as in depth, and expertise in historical and general skills will be developed. Significant events, individuals and issues will be studied from a range of historical perspectives, incorporating the history of more than one country, as well as a substantial element of British history. History teaches students to think and write critically, encouraging intellectual rigour in handling sources and evidence and giving training in practical research and presentation skills of enduring use. History is highly regarded by universities and employers because students who study it develop experience in gathering and analysing information. A History qualification is useful in many careers such as Journalism, Teaching, the Legal Profession, the Civil Service, the Diplomatic Service, the Media, (International) Business, Accountancy, Finance, Management.
