Course summary

Studying modern languages will provide you with excellent and varied career opportunities as well as transferable skills that will prepare you for further study and the world of work. Language skills have increasing value in the global job market and will impress employers in whichever career you choose. When studying a language at A Level, we build upon the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing that we developed at GCSE Level. In class, you will take part in debates and discussions on current issues. In addition, during the A Level course, you will study a film in the first year and a novel in the second year. During your course, you will be encouraged to visit the target language country on either a study visit or exchange or possibly to do some work experience. You will also have a weekly lesson with a native speaker in a small group to develop your oral skills further.
