Art and Design (Fine Art)

Course summary

Work is project based; there is one coursework project and one externally set assignment. There is a strong emphasis on observational skills and direct personal experience. An experimental approach using a wide range of media introduces students to a variety of skills and techniques with which you can communicate your ideas. Projects are designed to stimulate visual awareness through pictorial research using historical and contemporary images. Students will be taught to view artists’ work within its context and to recognise selected artists who are relevant to their own creative development. Students will pursue an idea from initial research and preparation through to final painting and presentation.
