Assessment
Paper 1 Listening, reading, writing Candidates answer comprehension questions in the target language in response to audio and written material. They are also required to translate a passage from English into the target language and vice versa. Paper 2 Writing Candidates will answer an essay question in the target language for each of the two works they have studied (this can be a book and a film, or two books). Students will have a choice of questions on each book/film. All questions will be in the target language and will require a critical and analytical response. Paper 3 Speaking The speaking test will be in two parts. Part 1 will be the discussion of one subtheme from those in this specification, and Part 2 will be the presentation and discussion of the student’s individual research project, related to the history, current affairs, or culture of the areas of the world where the target language is spoken.
